International visitors: there are no international flights into Uluru. Connect through Sydney, Melbourne or Cairns and allow at least 2½–3 hours between your international arrival and the domestic flight.
Every direct flight to Uluru leaves in the morning and lands from mid-morning to early afternoon — in plenty of time to check in and catch your first Uluru sunset the same evening. Return flights depart from mid-morning to early afternoon. Times are local and approximate; airlines adjust schedules each season.
The Northern Territory doesn't use daylight saving. From early October to early April, Uluru is 1½ hours behind Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart (½ hour behind Brisbane). In winter the gap to the southern states is ½ hour. Boarding passes always show local time.
Uluru is a small airport with a limited number of seats, so fares follow demand closely. Below are average economy return fares per adult, with typical ranges for each season. Booking around six months ahead gives the best choice — and Wednesday departures are typically the cheapest day to fly.
| From | Average return | Low season | Shoulder | Peak / school holidays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney | $650 | $450 – 600 | $550 – 750 | $700 – 1,000+ |

AUD, per adult, economy return including taxes. Qantas fares sit towards the top of each range and include a checked bag; Jetstar fares are usually lower but checked baggage may cost extra. Actual airfares are confirmed for your travel dates at the time of booking.
Coming from Darwin, Adelaide or Perth — or keen to see more of the Red Centre? Fly into Alice Springs and travel the 450 km (4½–5½ hours) to Uluru by road. Self-drive, or join an AAT Kings coach or touring itinerary that we can include in your package. Many travellers fly into one airport and out of the other.
With morning arrivals and midday departures, two nights leaves just one full day. Three nights gives you Uluru, Kata Tjuta and an evening experience without rushing.
Uluru and Kata Tjuta are often visible from the aircraft on approach — keep your camera handy.
Ayers Rock Resort's complimentary shuttle meets every flight and drops you at your hotel — no hire car needed unless you want one.
Seats and rooms are both limited, especially May–September. Securing them together avoids holding flights with nowhere to stay.
The daily Cairns flight makes Uluru plus the Great Barrier Reef easy: Sydney → Uluru → Cairns → home.
Fly net, hat, sunscreen and a refillable bottle year-round — plus a warm jacket in winter, when nights can drop below zero.
Sydney (Jetstar daily and Qantas around five days a week), Melbourne (Jetstar around five days a week) and Cairns (QantasLink daily). Everyone else connects via one of those cities, or flies to Alice Springs and continues by road.
Not at the moment. Brisbane travellers usually connect through Sydney; Adelaide and Hobart through Melbourne or Sydney; Perth through Sydney or Melbourne (or via Alice Springs). Darwin travellers often fly to Alice Springs and continue by road.
Yes. Ayers Rock Airport (code AYQ), also called Connellan Airport, sits beside Yulara — the resort town — about 20 minutes from Uluru itself.
Around six months ahead is ideal, and try not to leave it later than 6–8 weeks before you travel. Booking early matters most for May–September and school holidays, when demand and fares climb fastest.
